Overview
The Department of Commerce at Model Degree College Nuapada, Khariar is a well-knit community of highly committed teaching faculty and a very vibrant group of student body. The department is committed to provide quality education in Commerce, with a vision to empower students from the interior and rural regions of Nuapada district. Established with the aim of fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and socio-economic awareness, the department plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic and professional future of its students. The Commerce undergraduate programme provides a strong foundation in economic theory and quantitative tools of economic analysis.
Established in the year 2016, the department is catering primarily to the educational needs of economically and geographically marginalized communities, the department strives to make higher education in Commerce accessible, relevant, and impactful. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical exposure, the department equips students with the tools to understand and address contemporary economic issues at local, national, and global levels.
Following CBCS and NEP 2020 pattern, the curriculum is designed to cover core areas of Commerce including microCommerce, macroCommerce, developmental Commerce, environmental Commerce, public finance, and quantitative techniques. Alongside traditional classroom teaching, students are encouraged to engage in research projects, seminars, field surveys, and community-based studies to deepen their understanding of economic realities.
