COLLEGE LIBRARY AND LIBRARY RULES

 

Model Degree College, Nuapada has a well-equipped Library with reference materials and text books housed in Library room located on the 1st Floor of the college building.

The library has around 1851 total books.

  • The Library remains open from 10.30 AM to 5 PM on all working days.
  • To issue books from the library, the students are required to submit their requisition slips in the library counter between 11 AM to 4 PM.
  • Circulation of books takes place from 11 AM to 4.30 PM on all working days.
  • No book shall be taken out of the Library without the knowledge of the Librarian or until it has been properly entered in the Circulation Register and the entry attested by the borrower.
  • Every borrower should examine the condition of the material before it is issued to him/her. Otherwise, in case of mutilation discovered afterwards, the presumption will be against the borrower.
  • Books marked “Reserved Copy” shall not be issued without the prior permission of the Principal.
  • Members of the staff are allowed to borrow text books and reference books concerning their own department. If they want to borrow any text and reference book concerning departments other than their own, they are requested to take permission from the Principal and in that case, they are allowed to borrow only two books at a time for a period of one month only.
  • Books must be returned in the Library counter and not to any library bearer.
  • The Library will not be responsible for any book returned to anybody except the Librarian or the Assistant Librarian. All books borrowed from the Library should be returned before the summer vacation as per the O.E. code, any book required by the Librarian for some reason should be returned forthwith.
  • Overdue at the rate Rs. 1/- (Rs. One) per book issued will be charged from each borrower for each day of delay in returning the book. A borrower against whom any due is outstanding will not be allowed to borrow books from the library until the book is returned and the payment of overdue fine.
  • The Librarian shall report to the Principal the names of person responsible for improper use of library books, such as making notes in the margin, tearing or removal of pages or pictures and dirtying or disfiguring the book in any way. The Professor in-charge will report cases to the Principal for proper and timely action against the defaulters.
  • There will be no restriction on the use of any book in the library, but certain books may be reserved by the Principal for exclusive use on the recommendation of the members of the teaching staff concerned.
  • Books of reference, maps, courses of studies and rare books will not be issued for use at home without the special permission of the Principal. So long as the following issue of a periodical is not received it is to be considered as the current issue.
  • A book once issued to a borrower will be reissued to him/her only if no other borrower wants it.
  • It is a very serious offence for a borrower to sign for another or borrow books in another’s name.
  • In special case, the concerned subject teacher can borrow the required book and provide to the student with his/her responsibility.
  • Any book lost, damaged or defaced by a borrower must be replaced by him/her. If the book is not available, the borrower may have to pay an amount of ten times of the catalogue price of the book. In case, the price cannot be ascertained the borrower should pay the amount fixed by the Principal. The Principal may impose a fine on the borrower for improper use of a book, journal and question papers.
  • Those who use the library must observe strict silence and when they are obliged to speak to the library staff, they should speak in a low voice.
  • Students must return the library books before filling up their application form for the Final Examination.
  • Sticks, umbrellas and other personal belonging including cell phone should not be brought into the library premises. Spitting, smoking or sleeping inside the library and putting one’s leg on the furniture are strictly forbidden. The Librarian will report to the professor in- charge in all cases of incivility on the part either of the students or of the library staff and the professor in-charge will report such cases to the Principal immediately.
  • Those who use the library are supposed to have obey the rules and regulations of the library and abide by them.
